It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of former high school graduate Hayley "Lee" Alvarado. Hayley, a member of our founding graduate class who graduated last year, made an enormous impact on our community. Her brilliance, compassionate nature, and dedication to advocacy left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by many. Hayley's legacy will continue to inspire us all.

BelovED Community Charter School is excited to share that they have been awarded the Bronze with Access recognition from the AP College Board for their exceptional AP programs. This recognition is a testament to the school's commitment to providing rigorous academic opportunities to its scholars while also broadening access to advanced coursework.

BelovED HS's Anatomy and Physiology class had the opportunity to visit the forensics lab at NJIT. Scholars were given a tour of the entire campus and were provided insight into campus life.

K-5 families are welcome to view all of their scholar's science projects on November 20, 2023 from 3:30-4:30pm.

Beloved Community Charter School (BCCS) is proud to report that its students have continued to excel and thrive, as their New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) test scores showed BCCS students were almost twice as likely as their statewide peers to meet their grade level’s proficiency standards. On Friday, the Maschio's company arranged a special event for our BelovED scholars. Titled "Chef Day", Corporate Chef Scott joined the BelovED Maschio's Team to create a beautiful and tasty Ramen inspired meal.

Throughout the first half of the academic year, Ms. Lanzaro's 8th grade Creative Writing scholars worked on developing their own creativity, imagination, and story to portray a particular message, emotion, or plot through various expressive forms of literature. This event was a showcase of work that deserves to be shared.

Our K-2 classes received a unique treat on Halloween! Scholars from Beloved Community Chapter of the National Honor Society paid a special visit to various classrooms. NHS scholars read stories, sparked conversations, and even joined in on the Halloween celebrations!

BelovED 11th Grade scholars will have the opportunity to take the Preliminary SAT (more commonly known as the PSAT). The PSAT includes reading, mathematics, and writing and language components that focus on the knowledge and skills that are most essential for college and career readiness and success.

On Wednesday, May 25th the College Office hosted their 1st Annual College Fair!

BelovED celebrated Staff Appreciation Week with a week full of goodies and events for our awesome community members!

One of our middle school scholars travelled to Chicago this weekend to compete as a finalist in MathCon, a national math competition that all BelovEd middle schoolers enter each year. This year, Marcel Quinones was the only scholar in our school to level as a finalist and earn the right to travel to Chicago to compete in the last round. Over 25,000 scholars took the test nationally, and 616 finalists were invited to finals. Marcel received an honorable mention for the 8th grade! We are so proud of him and how well he represented our community!

We were SO EXCITED to bring back McTeacher’s Night on April 12! It’s always a great time when we can bring our whole community together during events like this. Our staff members were able to flip burgers, make milkshakes, serve fries and interact with our BelovED families at this wonderful event.

After several years of building our lacrosse program in the Upper Elementary grades, our scholars are ready for Middle School and High School lacrosse teams!

BelovED’s elementary school celebrated Women’s History Month throughout March to recognize the impact that inspirational women have had in our world and in our lives. The Upper Elementary scholars participated in the Women’s History Month challenge by creating presentations about inspirational women and presenting them to the academies during Community Circle. Way to go scholars!

On Pi Day, March 14, our elementary scholars celebrated Pi Day with Family Math Night! Our FMN committee did a wonderful job planning fun and interactive math activities for our scholars and their families.

Members of the BelovED community participated in Jersey City’s largest parade, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! BelovED was well represented by scholars, staff and families as they marched down Newark Ave. with other schools and community groups. Thank you to all who participated in the parade!

Our Upper Elementary scholars participated in the Dean’s Offices “Black History Month Challenge in February. Mr. Long challenged scholars to create presentations about famous people in Black History who’ve influenced our world such as: Barack Obama, Harriet Tubman, Debra Austin and many more! The scholar who presented showed great courage in presenting on Zoom in front of over 360 people. Way to go BelovED Owls!

In January, our 2-5 scholars participated in our Elementary Spelling Bee! Each homeroom hosted their own Spelling Bee to determine their representative for the Elementary Spelling Bee.

BelovED 2021 Food Drive came to a close on November 19 after our community raised 14,261 lbs of food which is the equivalent of 11,881 meals for families in need!

Along with the rest of the nation, BelovED celebrated Red Ribbon Week during the last week of October with themed days and guest speakers during Community Circle.

BelovED is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15! Across all academies, Spanish teachers are introducing scholars to Latin literature and celebrating the authors and other individuals who’ve made their mark in Latin culture.

BelovED is pleased to announce that Jeremie Cabrera has been named the Valedictorian for the 8th grade class of 2021. Jeremie has earned this academic title of success by maintaining the highest ranking amount the graduating class for this academic year.

In the first week of June at BelovED, we celebrated our first ever Diversity Week! Jersey City is known across the country for its diversity and our scholars and staff are a great representation of that reputation. To celebrate Diversity Week, we took to our social media pages to share all of the wonderful people and cultures represented in our community. On Friday, June 4, we had a Diversity Dress Down Day and invited all of our community members to wear clothing that represented their diversity.

On Thursday May 27th, in partnership with the Robateau Legacy Group, our Primary Academy scholars were able to participate in a Social Emotional Learning event that included our friends at JCPD, an art therapist, guidance counselor and other community volunteers.

During the first week of May, we celebrated all of our wonderful staff members here at BelovED. We kicked off Staff Appreciation Week with Icee Monday by offering free icees to all of our BelovED staff members.

In April Beloved hosted Family Math Night. With escape rooms, STEM projects, and math games, our scholars were able to practice and reinforce their math skills alongside their families at home.

Applications for the 2020-2021 School Year will become available on October 15th, 2020. Virtual Open Houses will be held on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 4:30 PM for Grades K-8 and on November 19, 2020 at 5:30 PM for the High School. Close to 100 students participated in the 2020 BelovED Invention Convention this fall. Students could invent anything they thought could help them or solve a problem they see in their daily lives. Read on to see the winners.

On September 1st, BelovED received a donation of individually packaged school supplies for scholars in our community from the Willie & Elizabeth Gordon Family Foundation (WEGFF).

BelovED has installed an air purification and filter system to improve air quality inside the school.
